Introducing Cachopo: A Spanish Delight!

Cachopo, also known as Milanesa, is a traditional Spanish dish hailing from the Asturias region. This hearty and indulgent meal features tender veal, Spanish serrano ham and gooey Gouda cheese, all encased in a crispy breadcrumb coating. Cachopo is a culinary treat that combines rich flavours and textures, making it a favourite comfort food in Spanish cuisine.

Cachopo Milanesa Flavour and Texture

The veal provides a tender and juicy base, perfectly complemented by the savoury depth of Spanish serrano ham. The Gouda cheese adds a creamy, slightly nutty richness that melts beautifully when cooked. The outer breadcrumb coating, when deep-fried, becomes golden and crispy, offering a satisfying crunch with every bite. The interplay of the crispy exterior and the soft, savoury interior creates a harmonious blend that is both comforting and indulgent. The overall experience is a delightful mix of tender meat, melted cheese and crispy breading, making Cachopo a truly memorable dish.

Cachopo MilanesaCooking Suggestions

  • Defrost: Ensure the Cachopo is fully defrosted before cooking.
  • Deep Fry: Heat oil to 175°C (350°F) and deep fry the Cachopo for 4 minutes or until it achieves a golden, crispy finish.
  • Drain: Let the Cachopo drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil before serving.

Cachopo Milanesa Serving Suggestions

  • Patatas Bravas: Crispy fried potatoes with a spicy tomato sauce provide a delicious contrast to the savoury Cachopo.
  • Salad: A fresh green salad with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes and a light vinaigrette offers a refreshing balance.
  • Roasted Vegetables: Oven-roasted vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini and eggplant add a nutritious and flavourful side.
  • Red Wine: A robust Spanish red wine like Rioja or Tempranillo pairs excellently with the rich flavours of the Cachopo.
