Black Summer Truffles: A Seasonal Delight with Restaurant-Quality Flair!

Black summer truffles are a culinary treasure that shines during the warmer months, offering a more accessible and affordable alternative to their luxurious winter counterparts. With their delicate aroma and mild flavour, these truffles are versatile ingredients that can elevate a wide range of dishes.

Fresh Summer Truffles Aromatic Symphony of Flavours

Black summer truffles may be less intense than winter truffles, but they still possess a unique flavour profile that can transform ordinary dishes into extraordinary culinary creations. Although these fresh truffles, even though they are pungent, may not always give you the intense flavour you would expect and may have tasted in a restaurant. This is because all restaurants will also use truffle oil or truffle butter to enhance the flavour. We recommend that you also use some of our truffle oils or truffle products to give you the best results!

Summer Truffles Cooking Suggestions

  • Shaving: One of the most popular and simplest ways to enjoy black summer truffles is by shaving them thinly over hot dishes. Whether it's pasta, risotto or scrambled eggs, the heat from the dish will release the truffle's aromatic oils, enhancing its delicate flavour and aroma.
  • Infusing: To incorporate the subtle flavours of black summer truffles into your cooking, consider infusing truffle oil or truffle butter into sauces, dressings or marinades. The rich and earthy flavours of the truffle oil or butter will complement a variety of ingredients, adding depth and complexity to your dishes.

Summer Truffles Serving Suggestions

  • Pasta: Generously shave black summer truffles over freshly cooked pasta, such as tagliatelle or fettuccine, to create a luxurious and elegant dish. Drizzle with truffle oil and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese to enhance the truffle's earthy flavours.
  • Risotto: Incorporate finely chopped or grated black summer truffles into a creamy risotto. The truffle's subtle flavours will meld beautifully with the creamy rice, creating a harmonious balance of textures and tastes.
  • Eggs: Elevate your breakfast or brunch by adding shaved black summer truffles to scrambled eggs or omelettes. The truffle's delicate flavours will complement the rich and creamy texture of the eggs, creating a sophisticated and satisfying meal.
  • Meats and Seafood: Enhance the flavours of grilled meats, roasted vegetables or seared seafood by drizzling them with truffle oil or topping them with shaved black summer truffles.

How to clean and keep fresh truffles?

The truffles we deliver are so fresh, they may still have a fine covering of soil or sand from when they were first unearthed. Gently dab with a damp cloth to clean.

Once they have been gently cleaned, wrap each truffle individually in a fresh sheet of kitchen paper towel. Place the wrapped truffles in a clean, airtight plastic or glass container, such as a flip-top jar with a tight seal.
Change the paper towel every morning and re-wrap the truffles. Put them back in their container and refrigerate, repeating the process until you are ready to use them.
